THE POWER OF SPORT

Ahead is a decade of sport for England. The London Olympics in 2012, The Rugby World Cup 2015 and hopefully the 2018 World Cup.
When this opportunity knocks on our door, we should take advantage and use it as a kick start to maximise our potential. This should not only be a time when we develop our sporting talent, but to open sport up to all, to improve local facilities make it truly Your Sport, Your Life. Sport offers many things from personal fitness to easing health issues. Sport creates discipline and can be a valve to release tension in a controlled environment. It provides our youth with a purpose, a goal. Our teenagers are not all the ones portrayed in the media, but we need to provide activities for them so they don't fall into that trap. Sport can give bring communities together and pride into a area. It develops trust, comradeship and respect.
These showpiece events are fantastic, the majority of us will just be spectators, as our elite athletes produce their best efforts and with luck return triumphant. We must not , however, let these sporting spectaculars pass without investing more in the power of sport. We must protect the playing fields of our country, we must build more sport related structures, more funding for Youth Clubs and the services they provide. Talent in Art and Sport is in abundance in this country, most lies dormant undiscovered, but commitment and funding will help to identify those individuals, but more importantly will open doors for more people to be involved in activities of interest.
Sport works, it benefits, individuals, communities and nations. Let us not waste the opportunities that hosting prestige's events presents us.

SportTrades supports the 2018 World Cup Bid, more importantly supports sport. To register your support for England 2018 visit the FA website and follow the links.

SPEND SENSIBLY - SPORTTRADES ECONOMICS

The current financial climate is difficult for everyone, but advertising is still essential to sell products and services. Businesses are searching for new ways to promote goods, they need to spend sensibly so that any new advertising campaigns have a longevity and are effective. SportTrades Economics is based on the belief that Sport works, Advertising works so combine them and your well on the way to success. At SportTrades we describe this combination as
'ACTIVE ADVERTISING'.

Active Advertising is unique, as it almost takes on a living form. Clients and employees can follow the product/service promotion through the association with a team or sport. Each report regarding a game or event will gain a wider awareness of a campaign through the team. The exposure can be via National or Local Media providers, it ranges from major shirt sponsorship to an act of charity within the local community, the connection between club and sponsor will be recognised and acknowledged.

SportTrades have a number of commercial opportunities ranging from Professional clubs to those at Grassroots level, where one simple investment at a competitive rate will create excitement, interest and a positive association with a business for a season and longer. Remember not every club plays in the Premiership and do not have multi million pound price tags on sponsorship or advertising. but they are all as important to the community they serve, no matter what level they play at.

Get Active, Spend sensibly, Contact SportTrades for details of Commercial opporuinities.

THE IRONS READY FOR THE SOUTH: BE PART OF IT.

Testing times are ahead for the new season but Braintree Town (The Irons) are ready. The club have re-signed many of last seasons players, including loyal clubmen Brad Quinton and Mark Jones who both have over a decades service at Cressing Road. The emphasis this coming season in the Blue Square South, is to give opportunities to the pool of talent available amongst their younger players. Braintree are a progressive club on and off the pitch. The club have plans to build a state of the art stadium that will benefit the community and the club. The plans can be seen at WG DEVELOPMENTS - FLITCH WAY DEVELOPMENT. The council will also recognise the benefits this scheme will bring to the club and town in time, they just need a nudge.

Management changes have been made at the club with the new manager Robbie Garvey coming from Dagenham and Redbridge, who they play in a friendly at Cressing Road on Monday 27th July, and Jason Broom as his assistant. Their input and experience should ensure an exciting season ahead and the beginning of a new era for the club. THE FINGER IS PONTING

After been so upset at the alleged time wasting in Cardiff, Ricky Ponting showed true sportsmanship in his acceptance of defeat at Lords. How the barmy army loved it as the Aussies were ripped apart from a fantastic bowling attack spearheaded by Freddie Flintoff. The batting and Captaincy was also good, with Andrew Strauss playing a captains innings with a stylish century. No time to rest - Cardiff reminded us on how dominant Austrailia can be when on song, we need our players to transfer they ability to the Ashes. Like West Ham claim they won the World Cup in 66, Essex can claim they won the 2009 Ashes, come on Cookie and Ravi hit form.

HAINAULT BULLDOGS: 3 IN A ROW

Well done, Kevin, Paddy and all at Central Park, Dagenham. Hainault Bulldogs after a difficult start to the season have climbed the league to a respectable position. Two promotions in two seasons in an emphatic style, this season was always going to be difficult. After a disappointing start they have adapted well to the new league and have built a foundation to push on from next season. Bulldogs travel to St Albans this Saturday and their final home game is at Central Park, Dagenham, 1st August. Details of Kick off time can be found on their website. OWEN: SIGNING OF THE SUMMER

It pains me to even mention it, Michael Owen a great signing for Sir Alex. As a fully paid up member of the Toon Army, I feel a little short changed about the commitment that Owen appeared to offer during his time on Tyneside. When you read his record, however, his goal return wasn't bad, his pitch time reasonable but could of been better. What a signing for Sir Alex, Michael still has the ability to finish at the highest level and with the quality of distribution from his teammates I believe he has a great season ahead of him. A player of his standard doesn't lose the ability to score when the distribution and movement from all departments of Manchester United is of the class it is life has all of a sudden become easier for Michael. A recall from Fabio?
