World in Union. Aviva Premiership review- Round 7

Round 7 saw much needed wins for Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints who welcomed back their world cup stars to the club fold. Meanwhile Harlequins continued in the same form that has seen them dominate the season so far, although they were given a stern test from Exeter Chiefs.

Highlights from all this weekend's games (and all archived footage from last season) will be free-to-view through Premiership Rugby TV - full details below, thanks to a brand new service brought to you by Aviva.
On Friday night at Edgeley Park Leicester Tigers claimed their second Aviva Premiership Rugby victory of the season. Wing Tom Brady’s first-half try helped the Sharks into a 13-3 interval lead but second-half scores from an inspired Alesana Tuilagi, as well as Martin Castrogiovanni, Toby Flood and Marcos Ayerza completed a stunning turnaround for the Tigers. Final score: Sale Sharks 13, Leicester Tigers 34.

Over at Sixways on Friday night Richard Birkett scored a thrilling last-minute try for London Wasps to snatch victory against home side Worcester Warriors. The game was largely dominated by kicking with Worcester replacement Joe Carlisle looking to have won the game for the Warriors with three second-half penalties. However, two-minutes from time the visitors pounced and Birkett crashed over for a try. Final score: Worcester Warriors 12, London Wasps 14.

On Saturday at the Madejski Stadium in-form Irish had gone into the match looking for a fifth win in six Aviva Premiership Rugby outings, but it was the visitors Bath Rugby who left with the spoils after a nail-biting encounter. Tries came from Sam Vesty and Dave Attwood for Bath and it was Vesty’s penalty in the closing minutes that sealed the victory. Final score: London Irish 12, Bath Rugby 13.

Harlequins reinforced their position top of the Aviva Premiership Rugby table on Saturday when they beat Exeter Chiefs at The Stoop. The victory extends Quins run to nine straight wins in all competitions but it was their toughest test of the season to date. Tries came from Mike Brown for Quins and Bryan Rennie for the Chiefs, while Nick Evans slotted over four penalties and a conversion for Harlequins with Ignacio Mieres kicking two penalties and a conversion for the visitors. Final score: Harlequins 19, Exeter Chiefs 13.

Over at Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday Northampton Saints scored six tries to claim a comprehensive victory over Newcastle Falcons. England winger Chris Ashton scored two tries, Tom May also crossed twice, his first two tries for the club coming against his old side, and Russian winger Vasily Artemyev added two more to take his tally to an impressive six tries in three matches since arriving at Northampton following the World Cup. Newcastle’s only reply was through the reliable boot of Jimmy Gopperth kicking four penalties and a drop goal. Final score: Northampton Saints 44, Newcastle Falcons 15.

A late try by centre Brad Barritt and an Owen Farrell conversion gave reigning champions Saracens a last-gasp Aviva Premiership Rugby victory to end Gloucester’s 22-match winning run at Kingsholm on Saturday. Olly Morgan scored a try for Gloucester with Freddie Burns and Tim Taylor slotting over two penalties each, while the try from Barritt backed up with four penalties and a conversion from Saracens guided them to victory. Final score: Gloucester Rugby 17, Saracens 19.
