Hot Dogs: Bulldogs beat Hammersmith, despite changes and injury

Thank you to Mr Bulldog, Patrick Crowley for providing the post.

After an easy round in the plate and a re arrangement of the next round the Bulldogs were keen to get a challenge in their next game. With no captain Ben Amato and half backs Harry & Charlie Chambers out they certainly had that but we also had players who admirably stepped up to the plate.

The game started positively against the wind with hooker for the day Terry Snooks sniping through on the 5th to open the scoring. This was shortly followed with an excellent 50m kick return by full back liam morley who then off loaded to Andy long for his first try of the day. This was followed by a second for Long. This was followed by tries for Tank Sherwood and Joey Jones and a superb try finished off the half by Matt Tilly to make the score 30-0. Just before the siren, Matt Tilly picked up a serious shoulder dislocation which we all wish him a speedy recovery ad we hope to see him soon!

Whether it was this incident or just complacency, the hill hoists got off to a better start, taking advantage if some sloppy tackling to make it 30-6. Joe jones replied with his second shortly after before a nicely worked try for the hammersmith team. The hills hoists tooled advantage of some confusion at a knock on to pull another try back before longy got his 3rd and props lee Morgan and keiran Skurr got on the scoresheet to make the final score 50-16.

Men of the match goes to Andy Long who directed the side round the paddock admirably and also Liam morley who put in some sensational runs in from Fullback.

Many thanks to Hammersmith for arranging the game at short notice and coming down with less than ideal numbers. Your boys stuck with it to the end and did your jersey proud!
