Thank you to our friends at Team GB and the Press Associaiton for the folllowing post and photo.

Great Britain's women claimed a stunning team pursuit gold in a blistering world record at the London 2012 Olympic Velodrome.

Britain have now won four of the five gold medals on offer after three days of track cycling, with five events to come, after Joanna Rowsell, Dani King and Laura Trott clocked three minutes 14.051 seconds to triumph with a sixth consecutive world record in the three-woman, three-kilometre event.

Sarah Hammer, Dotsie Bausch and Jennie Reed of the United States, who finished in 3mins 19.727secs, were in Britain's sights in the final kilometre in a scintillating display from the hosts.

Canada's Tara Whitten, Gillian Carleton and Jasmin Glaesser took bronze in 3:17.915 ahead of Annette Edmondson, Melissa Hoskins and Josephine Tomic of Australia (3:18.096).

Trott told BBC1: "It's mad, I actually can't believe it. I feel dead emotional right now. It was my dream - it's been my dream since I was eight and we've just gone and done it."

King paid tribute to her team-mates, saying: "We're like sisters and I couldn't have done it without them. They were absolutely incredible. I can't believe we've done it. It's absolutely amazing."

Rowsell felt the roars of the fans provided extra motivation. "I could tell we were winning by the noise of the crowd," she said. "They were just shouting so loud, that just really spurred us on in that last kilometre."

In the men's sprint, Britain's Jason Kenny advanced to Sunday's quarter-finals in straightforward fashion.
Kenny, who won silver in China aged 20, received a first-round bye after setting an Olympic record of 9.713 seconds in qualifying fastest, giving him a favourable draw for the one-versus-one match sprints.

He beat South Africa's Bernard Esterhuizen in the second round to advance and was set to meet Awang Azizulhasni of Malaysia in the best-of-three last eight.
