Wasps To Face Division 3 Maroons In Derby Cup 2010

Hull Wasps have today announced that they will take on National League Division 3 club, Bradford Maroons in this year's Derby Cup, in order to raise money for Hull's National League club. The game will take place on Saturday 19th June, 7:30pm at the home of the Wasps, the Bonus Arena.

"Bradford Maroons have agreed to take part in this year's contest." said club chairman, Dave Bushnell.

"This will be the third year we have hosted the game to help us raise the necessary funds for our club and this will no doubt be the hardest opposition we have faced so far. It will certainly make the game very entertaining for the fans I'm sure."
Bradford Maroons finished mid-table in last season's Division 3 North League, one league higher than Hull Wasps, so will provide stern opposition for the home side who will want to retain the trophy for the third consecutive season.

In addition to this years contest, it has also been announced that the game will contain an African theme to celebrate football's World Cup in South Africa.
"We thought that it would be more fun to theme the Derby Cup's each year." continued David. "Our junior fans may want to come in African fancy dress to join in the theme. There will be some various themed activities on the night along with our usual fundraising activities such as a multi-prize raffle and auction. We just want everyone to relax and have a good time and in doing so help us raise as much money as possible for our club."
