Phil Wunderlich was the hero once for the Hot Rods, on Sunday afternoon trailing 6-5 he hit a two-run homerun to right in the seventh inning, lifting Bowling Green to a 7-6 win over the Captains.
In the first inning, Tyler Cannon lead the game off with a solo homerun his second of the year to make it 1-0 Lake County.
Cody Rogers hit a leadoff homerun off Mike Goodnight in the bottom of the first to tie the game at one.
With two outs in the second inning and two on, Nick Bartolone dropped a line drive hit to him at short, loading the bases for the Hot Rods. The next pitch was in the dirt and Bowling Green took a 2-1 lead when Alejandro Torres scored.
Lake County took the lead when Alex Lavisky hit his second homerun of the year, a two run bomb to left making it 3-2 in the fifth.
Bowling Green came right back in the bottom half of five. Hector Guevara hit a leadoff homerun his first of the year to tie the game. With two outs, Bartolone dropped another fly ball at short allowing Robby Price to reach. Price stole second base and scored on an RBI double by Wunderlich making it 4-3.
Captains took the lead back in the sixth inning, Cannon scored from third on a wild pitch, and Alex Monsalve singled in Aguilar to make it 5-4. Anthony Gallas made it 6-4 with an RBI double in the seventh.
Eliazer Suero (1-0) picked up the win working three and third, allowing a run on three hits, walking one and striking out three. Owen Dew (0-2) took the loss allowing three runs on four hits, in three innings of work, walking two and striking out three.
The Captains return home Monday night to begin a six game home stand as they welcome in the Lansing Lugnuts first pitch is 7:00PM at Classic Park. Lake County will send RHP Mike Rayl (2-0) to the mound against RHP Daniel Webb (0-1) for the Lugnuts.
