Stateside Soccer: Brooklyn Italians name Noto as NPSL team coach

As you know this summer Sports Pulse will be following Brooklyn Italians in 'soccer' and Lake County Captains in baseball.  The MLB and MLS regular seasons have started and our schedule for our 2 'adopted sides' is very close. Here is the first Sports Pulse Stateside report.

Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Brooklyn Italians Soccer Club announced they have hired veteran soccer coach Tony Noto to direct their National Premier Soccer League team this season.

Noto has guided Italians teams in the Northeastern Super Soccer League and the Cosmopolitan Soccer League.

"Tony will bring a very competitive edge to the team, lots of energy and an enormous drive to compete," club director Joe Barone said. "He goes out of his way with the amount of work and details that are needed to be successful.

"He will always find players who are willing to go the extra mile. Tony brings lots of experience and connections from the national soccer scene."

Noto also has coached the New York Freedom in the Premier Development League.

"Tony is a coach with lots of experience and a knack for putting a good team on the field," director of coaching Mirsad Huseinovic said. "He is regarded in the metropolitan area as a no-nonsense coach and is well respected by his players and peers alike. Tony has been successful throughout his coaching career, be it winning a national championship as a coach of the New York state team or or consistently finishing atop of the PDL with the N.Y. Freedom. We, the Brooklyn Italians, are very excited to have Tony take over our NPSL team. Looking forward to a successful campaign."

Last year the Italians finished tied with the Red Bulls team with a 10--1-1 record during the NPSL regular season, but their New Jersey rivals qualified for the playoffs on better goal differential.

The Italians also will field an Under-20 team that will play in the US Club Soccer U-20 national league. That team will be coached by Huseinovic
