Another busy weekend for our selected clubs and features.
March to the Arch concentrates on the F.ACup this weekend. Brentwood Town continue their progress in the competition, with their toughest test, when they entertain Woking from the Blue Square Bet South. Before we continue a quick update on the F.A.Youth Cup. Thurrock beat Stansted 2-1 to set up a 3rd Qualifying Round visit to eithe Stotfold or Leighton Town.
Chelmsford Chieftains continue their league campaign, when they entertain Streatham Redskins. This will be the first home game in the newly refurbished Chelmsford Ice Rink. Last weekend was a mixed bag, they lost 4-2 at WightLine Raiders, however, beat Oxford City Stars 7-1.
Harpenden Rugby try to recover from last weekends defeat and visit London New Zealand. Hull Wasps get their league season under way as they travel to Liverpool.
The season continues for Jesmond Parish Churches Hockey Club, the ladies entertain Newcastle and the Men are on the road to Darlington.
In Europe Kult & Punk have the weekend off as St Pauli have no fixture due to the Germany v Turkey Euro clash in Berlin - enjoy the rest. UD Lanzarote travel to CD Mensajero as they hope to continue their impressive start to the season.
Our feature 2012, (twenty fixtures covering 12 sports in one area) was due this week but has been put back until next weekend.

The Second Qualifying Round of the F.A.Cup was played out last weekend. In our cup Tracker 'March to the Arch' we were following the tie between AFC Hornchurch and Brentwood Town.
It was a great tie which went to a replay. Brentwood’s reward for going through was £4,500 and a home tie in the 3rd Qualifying Round against Conference South club Woking. It must be the furthest that they've gone in the FA Cup in their history (which is something that we're check out) so it's onwards and upwards for the Blues.
The first game was at Hornchuch and saw Brentwood earn a replay after a 0-0 draw at Bridge Aveneue on Saturday 25th September.
Ryman Premier side Hornchurch were the favourites going into this tie and if it wasn’t for Brentwood’s hard-working defence and goalkeeper Andy Hall, the Urchins would have progressed into the next round.
The best opportunity of the first half fell to Urchins forward Jo Flack in the 39th minute. Flack worked the opening himself but Hall made a good save with his legs.
Hall saved again from Jonathan Hunt seven minutes into the second half and then made his best save of the afternoon to keep out a Martin Tuohy header following a Billy Coyne long throw in the 60th minute.
After Danny Dafter was booked for a challenge on Urchins’ Jordan Collins, Brentwood found themselves defending a number of free kicks and corners, but the back four of Darren Blewitt, Reiss Noel, Nikki Beale and Ryan Doyle held firm.
Beale made a number of clearances deep in the Blues penalty area including one which found its way as far as the stadium car park. Into injury time, Hall made another save from Ross Wall and had done enough to get a second chance on Tuesday.
The replay at Brentwood on the 28th of September was a tight affair as Brentwood sealed a passage through to the 3rd Qualifying round. A 91st minute goal from skipper Darren Blewitt finally broke the deadlock and gave Brentwood the vital 1-0 win over Hornchurch.
Blues, who are yet to concede a goal in this season’s competition, earned themselves £4500 in prize money from the FA and a place in the 3rd Qualifying Round where they will have a home tie with Conference South club Woking.
Brentwood gradually got on top of their Ryman Premier opponents as the first half progressed and Joao Carlos, Nick Muir, Danny Dafter and Anthony Ryan all threatened to open the scoring.
The Urchins looked stronger at the start of the second half and Jo Flack caused problems in the 48th minute with a run to the goal line and Brentwood were grateful that Blewitt was on hand to clear his low cross in the six-yard box.
Nikke Beale had a golden chance in the 57th minute but his header from a Ryan Doyle free kick flashed just wide of the post.
Tommy Black and substitute Tambeson Eyong caused Blues some problems in the second half but centre-backs Beale and Reiss Noel were again in top form. Hornchurch had a good spell late in the second half and could have taken the lead had another sub Martin Tuohy managed to convert a Tommy Black cross in the 79th minute.
However, Brentwood weathered that storm and the game looked destined for extra-time as the game went into injury time. But when Blues were awarded a free kick Ryan Doyle hit a ball deep into the penalty area where Blewitt rose high to score with a magnificent header into the far corner.

Harpenden 9 West London 12
There were two lotteries at Redbourn Lane over the weekend. One involved Daisy, a 600 kilo cow, the other was the tackle area of the Harpenden v West London game.
The Men in Black, off the back of three straight wins, began the game poorly perhaps owing to a series of reshuffles to the pack and indeed the backline.
In stark contrast, West London began the game on the front foot and never really looked back. West London played a slick, neat, off-loading game, close to the ruck area and found this to be an excellent source of both momentum and territory. Harpenden failed to come-to-terms with the tackle area and were subsequently penalized a number of times.
Only some wayward kicking from West’s goal kicker saved Harpenden from a massive deluge of points. Similarly last-ditch defense from Smith, Cornthwaite and Barton prevented almost certain tries. But the Men in Black held on, despite their inherent lack of possession and territory. With Messer’s Hoare, Peck and Green all spending some quality time in the sin-bin, Harpenden struggled for any kind of fluency or purpose.
In spite of their numerical disadvantage Harpenden’s remaining pack members performed admirably, winning their own scrums and lineouts with aplomb. West London too felt the full force of the man in the middle’s new whistle, with two of their kinsmen off to the bin for purported breakdown offences.

With the crowd expecting points, Harpenden’s own metronome Jonny Barton, produced two well-taken kicks to open up a gap that belied West’s near-total dominance. Regardless, Harpenden fought on and indeed themselves. Giving away a litany of needless and inconsistent penalties at inopportune times.
With both sides up to a full complement of players, some rugby began to be played by both sides. Kearns produced a neat show-and-go, slicing through West’s centers but failing to spot the overlap provided by Haddock, Harpenden’s only real backline-led attack petered out to nothing. Indeed, a notable lack of cohesion between the Harpenden backs and forwards gave West London a guilt-edged chance from which they converted. Slick handling from their three-quarters and a series of missed-tackles gave winger Smith no chance. West gratefully clutched the opportunity, and despite another miss from their kicker, they remained in the ascendency.
Steeled by some strong words, Harpenden marched up the pitch, and thanks to some excellent interplay by Cornthwaite, Jali and Peck found themselves deep into West London terrain. Alas, for all their endeavor and gusto Harpenden failed to find that chink in West’s armor to enable them the telling score.
Barton went close, as did Tennant, but the former dusted himself off to slot the three points on offer from a further West London infringement. 9-5. The game exploded into life, with Harpenden beginning to finally assert themselves in the loose phases of play, Hoare and Macca forcing the issue and trying to ignite the dying embers. Hoare’s over-enthusiasm cost the Harpenden number 8 a second yellow card, and the opportunity to take an early shower, of which many were envious.
However, his teammates suffered from the inevitable backs to the wall job, and so it proved with West London driving their way over from inches out visibly deflating Harpenden ambitions. Despite this setback, Harpenden upped the “anti” and another infringement by the West London 7 enabled Barton with a long-range attempt to give Harpenden an undeserved win. It wasn’t to be, with the kick falling just short. In truth, if Harpenden would have snatched the victory it would have been truly undeserved.
Our man in Arrecife is back, well his management has returned. Lanzarote continue their good start to the season and are sitting on top of the league.
LANZAROTE 2 C.D. LAGUNA 1

After going a goal down the Rojillos turn the score line on its head in the space of 10 minutes to go sole leaders of the third division.
This game will not go down as one of Lanzarote´s better performances, nevertheless to win despite a bad display is a trait that makes champions.
The Tenerife side did not let the joint league leaders settle on the ball. The Rojillos midfield engine enjoyed possession but hardly any of the play was in the opponents final third.
The first moment of danger occurred in the 12th minute. A free kick from the Lanzarote Captain Rubén Rodríguez came crashing back off the wall. C.D. Laguna then began to look the more likely to break the deadlock. In the 20th minute left back Javi Marrero saw his strike from edge of the area graze the top of the bar.
The visitors took the lead in the 35th minute. An 18 yard shot from midfielder Samuel beat the Rojillos keeper Alejandro and gave the Tenerife side the 0-1 advantage. After a poor opening half the Conejeros (locals) couldn’t moan going into the break a goal down.
Two minutes into the restart and Lanzarote were level. On the edge of the area central midfielder Javi Betancort let fly beating the outstretched Tenerife keeper which not only equaled the scores but gave Lanzarote the inspiration for victory.
Ten minutes later and a foul in the area on Jonathan Torres gave Lanzarote the opportunity to go in front via the penalty spot.
The trusted left boot of Rubén Rodríguez did not let him down. The keeper guessed the corner but was beaten by pace and accuracy and the Rojillos found themselves in a 2-1 lead.
The Rojillos now looked confident and efforts from Jotha and Toñito came close with sub Eliot also hitting the woodwork. As it was the Rojillos couldn’t find that killer goal and Laguna began to edge back into the game with both teams tiring in the 30 degree plus heat.
Despite the late flurry and a couple of good saves from Alejandro the Tenerife side was unable to find the net.
Even though the performance was under par it still reads won 5 drawn 1 and lost 0. The other Lanzarote club in this division did their fellow Conejeros a favour with a well fought out goalless draw away to Tenerife B. Lanzarote are now two points clear at the top and next week will travel to la Palma to play mid table side C.D. Mensajero.

March to the Arch had a busy weekend ahead of what is a very busy week.
In the F.A.Trophy Preliminary Round Corinthian Casuals entertained Potters Bar. Potters Bar progressed with ease to the next Round after beating the casuals 3-0. Potters Bar Town travel to Wealdstone in the 1st Qualifying Round on the 16th October.
The F.A Vase continued, when St Blazey travelled to Bislington. St Blazey were the underdogs in this tie, but came out as victors with a 1-0 win. St Blazey return home to face Hengrove Athletic in the 2nd Round on the 13th November.
Weymouth Ladies were due to feature in the Women’s F.A.Cup 1st Qualifying Round. Unfortunately their opponents Winscombe, withdrew from the tournament. Weymouth now travel to Frome Town this Sunday. For the purposes of the merit table, Weymouth will be awarded 1 point and Winscombe will record 0. Weymouth will not register on the goals list and ½ point will be awarded in the appearence column.
Tuesday night Thurrock host Stansted in F.A.Youth Cup and Brentwood Town entertain Woking on Saturday in the F.A.Cup
The boys are back winning, the saints go marching on. Kult and Punk missed Saturday, but found save and sound and returning to Hamburg.
St. Pauli spoiled the party at Hannover 96 in Friday's matchday 7 opener, ending the hosts hopes of moving up to second in the table with a 1-0 victory.
The win moves the promoted Hamburg team, who have earned nine of their ten points to date away from home, into the top third of the table ahead of the main weekend programme.
Early shock for hosts
Hannover were clearly keen to stamp their authority on the contest from the off, but they were instead caught cold in the sixth minute. Bastian Oczipka played a one-two with Fabian Boll before firing in a cross from the left which Marius Ebbers powered home with a header off the inside of the post. It was a salient early reminder of just how effective St. Pauli have been on the road so far this season.
In the absence of top scorer Didier Ya Konan, 96ers coach Mirko Slomka had altered his starting formation, with Mohammed Abdellaoue the sole striker and Lars Stindl in a forward midfield role. The home team enjoyed the bulk of the possession as the first half unfolded, but they were making real headway against the well-disciplined guests.
No way through
St. Pauli in fact looked at least as likely to grab another in one of their occasional breakaways. Matthias Lehmann tried his luck from distance in the 39th minute and Florian Fromlowitz needed two attempts to hold onto Fin Bartels' effort on the rebound. Hannover's best attempt came from a free kick right at the end of the half, Sergio Pinto bending the ball just wide of the far post.
Into the second half and the game continued in much the same pattern. Hannover had a shout for penalty waved away in the 58th minute when Kessler fumbled a ball in from the left and Abdellaoue went down in the box under a challenge from Carlos Zambrano.
Chances at either end
Six minutes on from that, St. Pauli passed up a great opportunity to give themselves a two-goal cushion when Max Kruse's lay-off from a Rowen Hennings cross fell just out of reach of the onrushing Ebbers. The action then swuing back to the other end, Kessler doing well to push an Abdellaoue header to the side and Hannover unable to capitalise on the confusion that followed.
With ten minutes of the match remaining, Lehmann burst clean through on the edge of the box only to be hauled back by Karim Haggui, earning the home defender a straight red card. A man down, the Reds persevered gamely in the closing stages, but St. Pauli held firm and with fresh forwards on the prowl remained a threat themselves on the break right through to the finish.

In the F.A.Trophy we have switched our attention to the Corinthian Casuals who entertain Potters Bar on Saturday kick off 3pm. In the F.A.Women's Cup our team Weymouth Ladies host Winscombe on Sunday.
In the F.A.Vase St Blazey travel to Brislington on Saturday. On Tuesday evening Thurrock host Stansted in the F.A.Trophy.
In Geordie Hockey Sticks. Jesmond Parish Churches Men’s side begin their league campaign at home to Stokesly, while the women travel to North Shields. Home games and training takes place at Newcastle Royal Grammar School, Eskdale Terrace, Newcastle.
Men in Black: Harpenden continue their season with the hope of protecting a100% record. They entertain West London at Redbourn Lane on Saturday.
Sol y Futbol. UD Lanzarote return to Arrecife to face C.D. Laguna and in Kult & Punk FC ST Pauli travel to Hannover 96 tonight.
In Basketball Hull Wasps have the weekend off. In ice hockey the Chelmsford Chieftains have a weekend on the road. on Saturday they play Wightlink Raiders and on Sunday visit Oxford City Stars.
