Baseball: Loons' Domecus Bests Captains 4-3

Steve Domecus lifted Great Lakes by Lake County on Tuesday night driving a pair of runs with a single in sixth inning for a 3-2 lead. The Loons went on to win 4-3, as Domecus also scored the other two runs.

The Captains jumped in front 1-0 in the second inning on a Brian Heere RBI single to centerfield scoring Ronny Rodriguez.

Moises Montero hit his second homerun of the season in the sixth with the game tied at one, giving Lake County a 2-1 lead.

The Captains trailing 4-2 in the eighth inning got a pair of runners on to start the inning. Montero scored from third on a wild pitch making it 4-3, but that is as close they would come.

Garrett Gould (11-5) picked up the win tossing six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out three. Scott McGough picked up his 3rd save of the season pitching 1.2 innings. Jordan Cooper took the loss allowing three runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings, no walks and one strike out.

Lake County and Great Lakes continue their four game set on Wednesday night at 7:05PM at Dow Diamond. RHP Mike Goodnight (5-9) gets the start for the Captains against RHP Angel Sanchez (5-3) for the Loons. Catch all the action AM 1330 WELW or online at captainsbaseball.com.
