London Skolars 12 Keighley Cougars 30

Skolars final game of the 2011 Co-operative Championship 1 season ended in defeat as they lost 12-30 to Keighley Cougars in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd at New River.

Skolars annual Friday Night Lights fixture kicked off half an hour later than scheduled due to the Keighley team being delayed in heavy traffic. When the match did get under way Keighley got off to a flier with Jason Demetriou going over after four minutes. Skolars hit back with two tries in four mintes. First John Paxton scored and Austen Aggrey was soon over to give Skolars a 12-4 lead. Both tries were converted by Dylan Skee.

Keighley hit back with two converted tries of their own, Benjafield and Rawlins going over for the visitors to give them a 12-16 half-time lead.

The second half belonged to Keighley, with three more unanswered tries being added to the score. Duffy and Normington (2) did the damage, whilst Lawton kicked a penalty to make the final score Skolars 12 Keighley Cougars 30.

Keighley now go on to compete in the pay-offs whilst Skolars can reflect on an improved league performance this season which has seen them finish the campaign
