Rugby League: Skolars first away win of the season at the Heed

Skolars recorded their first away win of the season when they ran out 16-36 winners at Gateshead on Sunday afternoon. This win, Skolars fifth of the campaign, puts the club on 21 points for the season.

Skolars got off to a good start with Smokie Junor going over on 10 minutes and Dylan Skee kicking the extras. Thunder hit back with a converted try of their own on 35 minutes but Matt Thomas, making a welcome return to the Skolars line up, went over just before the break to give the Skolars a slender 6-10 lead at half-time.

Further tries from Aaron Small and James Anthony within 7 minutes of the restart put the Skolars 6-20 ahead but, to their credit, Thunder hit back with a try of their own on 51 minutes.

Dylan Skee, Will Colleran and James Anthony awith his second made the game safe for Skolars with tries on 55,72 and 74 minutes but Thunder had the last word with a try in the final minute to make the final score Gateshead 16 Skolars 36
