FA CUP KICKS OFF HERE WITH BARKINGSIDE

Barkingside will be looking to get their first win of the season in this weekend's FA Cup tie againgst Bowers & Pistsea, at the Oakside this Sunday. So far from their 2 games played so far this season, Side have drawn both 1-1 and will be looking for their first win this season in their first game at the Oakside this season.

Side's recent memories of the FA Cup are contrasting to say the least. Two seasons ago, the club reached the Second Qualifying Round which is their best performance in the Cup in their long history. Disposing of Stewarts & Lloyds, Hanwell Town and Hertford Town (in a replay)
the team were very unlucky not to get a replay out of Blue Square South side Welling United, narrowly losing 2-1 away at Park View Road.

Last year was different as they went out of the Cup with a humiliating 4-0 home defeat to Stanway Rovers, which was made even worse, due to the off-board difficulties at the club with the board of the time, having little faith in the players and management. This year's Side
though are different with a confidence high that the club can have a successful season.

Manager Tony Fenn and his assistant Amin Levitt are aiming for the Essex Senior League title this year, but a nice cup run wouldn't be bad at the start of the season. Not only would it boost confidence in the players but it could hopefully build up a platform of wins for the season ahead
.
