Southampton Unveil new 125 Anniversary Crest

Our friends at www.football-shirts.com have today revealed the crest Southampton will use for their 125th anniversary.

Earlier this month, Southampton Football Club unveiled their new club crest which commemorates their 125 years in English Football.

The club was founded in 1885 and during their 125 year history, the club has managed to lift the FA Cup, once in 1976. The club finished runners-up in the FA Cup editions of 1900,1902 and 2003. The figure 125 replaces the ball while the halo and outline are now in gold.

Club Spokesman, Jordan Sibley said: ”The launch of the crest represents the beginning of our 125 celebrations. We were keen to produce a variation of our crest that subtly celebrated this important club milestone whilst retaining the traditional feel.

“The crest will be used on our bespoke merchandise and club literature, as well as forming an integral part of the 2010/11 Home, Away and Goalkeeper kits.

“We will soon be announcing further details of how the Club will be celebrating this special occasion throughout the forthcoming season, as well as launch details of the new kits.”
