Midweek Kult & Punk: St Pauli Win away.

The 2 lads stayed in Zoes Bar for this one, for the best. Thank you to the official Bundasliga website for the report. On Saturday the boys host Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Mönchengladbach 12 St. Pauli

Substitutes Gerald Asamoah und Florian Bruns delivered the next blow to Mönchengladbach’s rapidly declining season, earning St. Pauli a 2-1 comeback win on the road.

Borussia coach Michael Frontzeck opted to send out a team virtually unchanged from the one that took a 7-0 mauling off Stuttgart at the weekend and the move appeared to be paying off when Juan Arango put the Foals in front in the 25th minute. At that point the lead was fully merited, with the Gladbach defence looking reasonably shipshape again, albeit that they were not under too much duress from the St. Pauli forward line.

Things changed after the break however, as the Hamburg side increasingly seized the initiative. Asamoah brought them level in the 66th minute, just three minutes after coming off the bench. And five minutes after that, fellow substitute Florian Bruns stepped up to slam home what would prove to be the winner from the spot, after Roel Brouwers had fouled Fin Bartels - yet another substitute - inside the box.

The defeat leaves Gladbach fourth from bottom, and their misery was complete when striker Mohamadou Idrissou was sent off in added time after picking up a second yellow card.
